Netflix is celebrating a great success with the first season of One Piece. The live-action adaptation of the absurdly popular manga and anime template scores with true-to-original set pieces and the casting was also great for most parts. As is well known, a second season has been in the works for some time, but its release date is now causing anger.
There is no specific start date for the second season of One Piece on Netflix yet. In an interview with his colleagues from Cerealkillerz at the Vienna Comic Con, Garp actor Vincent Regan commented and at least had an approximate period of time up his sleeve.
He has just returned from filming in South Africa and has this to say: "Everything my character does in Season 2 is finished and now they're about a month from now, I think they'll be done filming . So I think the series will be ready for Netflix before Christmas next year.
You can see that Vincent Regan himself isn't really sure when season 2 of One Piece will set sail on Netflix. However, his statement caused some anger among fans because it simply took too long for them. Over two years between seasons is too long. At this rate, large parts of the cast will be over 30 before they even arrive in Alabasta.
According to Vincent Regan, filming for season 3 and the Alabasta arc covered in it should start immediately after season 2 has ended. But that only calms people down to a limited extent. There is also concern that the series will not make it past Enies Lobby, regardless of its success.
Of course, one thing to keep in mind with One Piece is that there is a lot of post-production involved. The devil fruits and monsters require tons of CGI and that costs time and money. So let's just hope that Grandpa Garp didn't misjudge the release period.
