Dragon Ball lore is really a thing unto itself and can get very confusing. Curtain up for Piccolo, whose backstory plays a role in the latest Dragon Ball Daima episode. It's about his father or his name Katatz. Of course, it's a lot more complicated than you might think, but we'll do our best to break it down. Let's go!

Dragon Ball Daima is reminiscent of the background lore surrounding Piccolo, Katatz and the nameless Namekian
That's what it's about:In Dragon Ball Daima we learned that the Namekians do not originally come from the planet Namek, but from the Demon Realm. But it goes even further: the ancient Namekian Neva reminds the fighters around Son Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo what the original Piccolo was called, namely Katatz. What the young Piccolo already knew. He replies that Katatz was his father.
Not Oberteufel Piccolo?No, not indeed. Piccolo first met Dragon Ball fans as Oberteufel Piccolo. However, this is not the biological father of the current Piccolo, but rather a reincarnation of him. However, he later reunited with Kami aka God, which actually makes him his original father again.
The Nameless Namekianwas the son of Katatz, who, however, split into two parts. In order to become God, he split off his evil parts as the chief devil Piccolo and the rest became God or Kami. Da Piccolo Jr. is the reincarnation of Oberteufel Piccolo and later reunites with Kami, he should theoretically have arrived in his original state as a Nameless Namekian.
Is the nameless Namekian simply called Katatz?Maybe yes. At least if we understand it correctly, the Nameless Namekian simply adopted his ancestor's name or title. So the circle would close and that theoretically means that Piccolo himself should actually be called Katatz. We said it was complicated.

Is there more to come?Probably yes. It at least seems extremely likely that the old Namekian Neva from the Demon Realm could drop one or two lore bombs. It would also be really interesting to find out more about the Nameless Namekian, Katatz and the history of the two characters as well as Piccolo's background. Fortunately, we still have a few episodes of Dragon Ball Daima ahead of us.
