The once legendary shooter series Turok is celebrating an unexpected comeback: the latest part, Turok: Origins, was officially announced at the Game Awards.
Do you still know the dinosaur shooter Turok? Based on a comic book of the same name, it made its debut on the Nintendo 64 in 1997 and was so successful that there were several successors. However, things have been quiet around the franchise for a long time after a reboot was released by Propaganda Games in 2008. But now there is a big comeback!
As part of the Game Awards last night, the development studio Saber Interactive officially announced Turok: Origins, which will further develop the shooter series in a modern guise. However, one change is immediately noticeable: the previous first-person perspective in the franchise titles is being shelved and recently replaced by a third-person perspective.
Otherwise, Turok: Origins, including the sci-fi setting, will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/s. When the time comes, you can not only play solo, but also in a co-op mode for up to three players.
The setting doesn't change much: you take on a Turok warrior and have to take on all sorts of bloodthirsty dinosaurs - and also an alien threat to human life in the galaxy. To defend yourself, various weapons and skills are available. You can extract DNA from fallen enemies to unlock additional skills that advance your suit in real time.
Turok: Origins does not yet have a release date; The first trailer is attached for you to get in the mood.
Saber Interactive is bringing Turok back. Turok: Origins is set to be developed for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
