After a lot of player criticism, Sony has a view and drops the PSN account obligation for certain PC implementations. Anyone who still makes a link should benefit from various actions.
It was always an exciting topic last year: the obligation to link with a PSN account at various PC implementations from Sony. For the first time, the topic was really high in the context of Helldivers II. With a update, Steam players should be obliged to link their account with a PSN account in the future-but the shit storm was so great that developer arrowhead did not.
However, this did not change the fact that Sony regularly relied on a PSN account obligation for new PC versions of the in-house First party titles. If you can still deal with this when using the network infrastructure for multiplayer titles, this is quite controversial for single player titles and therefore continues to ensure new shouts in the communities. That is also why Sony now apparently has a view!
Today Sony announced that with tomorrow's publication ofMarvel's Spider-Man 2For the PC, make the link with an account in the PlayStation Network optional. There is no longer an obligation to use a PSN account when buying via Steam.
This will also be the case on the upcoming PC versions of the single player titlesThe Last of Us: Part II Remastered(April 3, 2025) as wellGood of War RagnarökandHorizon: Zero Dawn Remasteredto that will do without the previously planned PSN obligation.
Optionally, the whole thing is still possible - and in all cases Sony wants to make the respective players tasty. If you make a link with a PSN account, you can enjoy "additional advantages such as trophies and friend management". In relation to the above titles, the advantages then look out as follows:
