Nintendo has officially and exclusively announced the new series branch Mario Kart World for Switch 2! Here you can find out all the details known so far!
In the first trailer for the Switch 2, the new Mario Kart was already shown, at the start of the detailed direct conference on the new hardware, Nintendo then officially announced the new serial branch. The game does not listen to the name Mario Kart 9, but rather means Mario Kart World - for a certain reason.
Mario Kart World has recently not only had individual routes, but also a navigable world. You can also leave racetracks and curve around the world. In the "Free Driving" mode, you can simply jet through the game world alone or with friends, explore them and even take photos.
This new game world is used in another new mode: the "Ko Tour". Here you literally drive from a corner of the world to the other a uninterrupted race. You pass several checkpoints that you have to achieve in a certain time. If you do not do it, you are leaving - and this also explains the name of this game mode.
Incidentally, the classic Grand Prix mode is on board. A single competition extends - as before - over four races on individual routes. What is new in the races is that the time of day and weather conditions play a role and that they will change the gaming experience.
In addition, in Mario Kart World, 24 drivers can actually compete in a single race - something that was suspected after the first trailer. In addition, the release of the Funracer is exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, so no longer for the original switch. The publication itself takes place on the back of the console - on June 5, 2025!
Further information will follow in a separate direct conference on Mario Kart World, which was scheduled for April 17, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
