Epic Games is bringing Fortnite OG back starting today - this time permanently. Here you can find out what awaits you and what has happened since last time!
Fortnite OG became an absolute success story for Epic Games last year. The return to the original, first island brought the already successful title new records in terms of player numbers - so it's no wonder that Epic Games is now bringing Fortnite OG back.
This time it's not just a temporary pleasure, Fortnite OG is now set to become permanent. It starts today, December 6th, directly with the original Season 1. So you can expect OG loot, OG locations and OG gameplay again.
Subsequently, the original seasons from Chapter 1 will continue, including changes to the loot selection and the introduction of new features. However, the seasons in OG will be shorter than the classic battle royale seasons in the current Chapter 6. Season 1, for example, will end here on January 31st at 8:00 a.m.
Solo format and team format are now available, as is Zero Build. In the future, the whole thing will be expanded to include Fortnite OG Ranked.
Incidentally, Epic Games has made the following quality-of-life adjustments:
- The building mechanics are identical to Battle Royale as it is today.
- As for movement, players will be able to sprint, slide, pull themselves up, smash doors, and move while healing.
- Some of the distinctive features from this era were retained while others were polished. For example, players will find restart buses and be able to see the glow of a sniper scope, but the maximum number of construction resources is set at 999 and "double-pump" is enabled for shotguns (for now).
- Of course, the original map that launched Fortnite Battle Royale 2017 is back! Careful attention has been paid to ensure that every tree, chest, car and object is exactly where players remember it. Zero Build will feature rope slides and high-rise aids to help players reach hard-to-reach places.
Fortnite OG's comeback is accompanied by a Fortnite OG Pass, which offers 45 tiers of retro rewards. Mutinous Marauder, Parachute Bomber and Skull Commander are the outfits you can earn in Season 1 - with an unlockable alt style for each.
Fortnite is now back with the OG version.
