Fans don't have it easy. The fields are finally all sown neatly in a row and everything is in order, then a cheeky little harvest fairy just comes along at night and completely ruins all the work.
Well, at least almost and some players are certainly happy too, but especially if you're already quite advanced, the little fairy doesn't just cause enthusiasm. But she actually only means well towards you, like a mother.
That's what it's about:In Stardew Valley you can receive visits at night, not only from the witch, strange meteorites or mysterious statues that appear on your farm, but also from the harvest fairy. This is a random event and the fairy ensures that the plants you have sown will ripen more quickly. However, only a few of them and that's exactly where the dog is buried.
At the beginning of the game, the harvest fairy is likely to be popular with all players. You need quick money and you haven't yet planted extensive fields with irrigation systems and you don't have to worry about much else. That's just the right time, if you can immediately sell some crops and sow new seeds to progress faster.
But if you already have a strict regime in your garden, have carefully coordinated when everything will ripen and want to harvest everything at once, the fairy messes everything up. Suddenly there are gaping holes in the beautiful order in the field and the finely balanced uniformity cannot of course be restored by subsequently sowing new seeds.
That's why Reddit user lovasf, for example, is upset about the little fairy:
"I DON'T like the Harvest Fairy AT ALL. I mean, I understand that she's just trying to help, but... she comes out of nowhere and waters some plants in the middle of the night. [...] You're probably thinking you now, what's the problem, why are you so angry? I'll tell you why, because my entire cultivation area is now totally UNEVEN.
I don't like the harvest fairy and would prefer it if she would just leave me alone. Or maybe help with the trees instead of the crops."

In the comments, many order fanatics echo the same sentiment and feel more hindered by the harvest fairy than supported by her. Butthe mood is roughly balancedwith those who don't care how neatly, evenly and at the same time their cultivated area is cultivated.
This post seems particularly sweet:
"I remember a post from a while ago where someone said that he or she always imagined the fairy was drunk on her way home from a party and decided to work a little more magic while she stumbling around your farm like a harmless, drunken prank. That's canon to me now."
Of course, a lot of thought goes intohow the fairy could be improved. Favorites are definitely the options where she tends to the trees instead of the fields, or simply increases the quality of the vegetables a notch or two instead of allowing them to ripen faster.
She could also simply use magic to ensure that the animal's drinking bowl doesn't need to be refilled for a few days.
What's the trick?Just move forward: At a certain point in Stardew Valley you can automate not only the irrigation, but also the harvest. Then you no longer have to worry about when something is ready to harvest and you can ignore if there are individual holes. Instead, you just have to check the Junimo huts every now and then and you can see everything in one go.
How do you feel about the harvest fairy and are you more focused on breeding and order on your farm or is there chaos around you?
