Lucky guy finds the PS1 in its original packaging in an old lady's dumpster - he saves the console and now enjoys gaming with his children

The box has a little water damage, but the console inside should still work.

Do you remember what happened to your very first PlayStation? I sold mine back then so I could afford a PS2. Today I'm annoyed about it because the small console is a valuable collector's item that I would like to display in my living room at home.

That's why I'm a little jealous of a lucky gamer who rescued a working PS1 from the trash a while back.

PS1 was supposed to be thrown away, but a PlayStation enthusiast saves it

Redditor "Chief_Nodnarb" shared a strange story on the PlayStation Reddit a few days ago:The fan found a PS1 still in the box in the trash. "Chief_Nodnarb" then found out that the dumpster belonged to an elderly lady's house.

The lucky guy asked the woman if she was really sure she wanted to throw away the console, to which she responded with indifference, according to the Redditor. So "Chief_Nodnarb" kept the console.

As we can see from the pictures in the first Reddit post, the box has some minor water damage. The console itself and all accessories including controllers, cables, etc. are still in their original packaging and have therefore remained undamaged over time.

Shortly after his first post, "Chief_Nodnarb" posted an update on the PlayStation subreddit. In it, the fan reports that the console works without exception. He writes the following:

I decided to keep (the PS1) and introduce my kids to the classics I played when I was younger. The thing works perfectly. The controller is absolutely great. The nostalgia really hit me when I opened (the box) with my daughter. Having a brand new PS1 feels strange and incredible at the same time.

It's actually not uncommon for people to fish out working consoles from the trash. We have already reported on various stories of this kind in the recent past. However, the fact that a lucky person picks up a PS1 in its original packaging and virtually untouched should be a real stroke of luck.
