On November 3, 2024 the time had come. After a short delay, One Piece fans could look forward to the first episode of the revised Fish-Man Island Saga. With the remake of the FMI arc, Toei Animation wanted to give the storyline a new look and thus make the long wait for the main anime, which is scheduled to last until April, more bearable.
However, the first episode was already met with harsh criticism from fans of the series and there were discussions in the community regarding the pace of the shortened arc.
It doesn't make a strong impression because everything happens too quickly
One Piece fan and X (formerly Twitter) user @Soul_StormOP, for example, expressed disappointment in a post about the pace of the narrative in the remake of the FMI arc.

“Nothing feels impactful.”
According to the fan, although the animations, drawings and corrections in the arc are very nice to look at compared to the main series, the speed of the events is just too fast. Too much has been cut out of the main events to be enjoyable. His conclusion: “shocking”.
Soul_StormOP therefore calls on fans of the series to read the manga or even watch the original episodes of the Fish-Man Island Saga - instead of the revised version.
Not all viewers agree with Soul_StormsOP's opinion, which is why there are heated discussions in the comments under the post. While Soul_StormOP is convinced that the remake of FMI-Arc is too fast paced, other viewers are convinced of the opposite.
We have selected some comments from both sides for you:
“As someone who started One Piece again and just got into Back on Sabaody, I don't think people remember how bad the pacing was in Fishman Island. I love what they’re doing with this remake right now in terms of pacing.”

“I thought it was perfect. All key points were hit. There was some good banter. It wasn't full of individual scenes that took too long. It felt like a condensed 2-3 episodes. It was great”

“Yes, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen “Fishman Island” or at least “Back to Sabaody.” The cuts were truly shocking and hurt even more when you know what was cut.”

“Instead of really improving the pacing, it felt like Toei took a pair of scissors and randomly cut out parts of the original content. It felt like the river was ruined.”
