The remaster of is on October 31streleased for the PC and PS5. The aim of the improved version is to bring the title up to the technical level ofto heave. To achieve this, more than 30 PS5 devkits had to work overtime every night, as one of the developers at Guerrilla Games revealed.
Everything for the perfect lighting
The story comes from oneConversation on X. Developer Jan-Bart van Beek responded to a post in which two images from the original and the remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn were placed side by side. The remaster looks much more natural and simply much better.

In his response to the post, Van Beek reveals some background information about the creation of the original. The action-adventure, which was released for the PS4 in 2017, was the Dutch studio's first open-world game. There were countless places on a huge map, all of which had a day-night rhythm.
It was obviously a big challenge to check that the lighting was working as it should in every corner of the map. The location shown in the post was one of the areas where the lighting did not work as the team wanted.
This is the solution:When asked by another user whether there is now a better system for checking the world, van Beek answers:
"Yes, we have a system called Autobot. It starts the game and takes a series of screenshots in thousands of locations at different times of the day. It does this every night and has used more than 30 PlayStation development kits, but verification of the results is always another human achievement."
Everything about Horizon Zero Dawn
This approach enabled the studio to be much more effective in ensuring that every inch of the game world appeared in the right light. You can see in the remaster whether the work was worth it. If you own the original, you can upgrade for 10 euros.
