The story ofruns relatively linearly for RPG standards over long stretches. But in some places you have to make tricky decisions. If this is your first time, most of you will only have two options to choose from? but under very specific circumstances there is a third!
Spoilerwarnung:The article contains spoilers for the story quest "Transition of Shadows", which you receive early on in Arlathan Forest.
This Veilguard quest has a third option for some Rooks
In der Story-Mission "Transition of shadows"The veil jumpers send you to the village of D'Metas Überang to check on everything. As soon as you dock the boat at the jetty, it becomes clear that something is wrong here. How bad things are in the little village is there, you'll see a short time later.
It's completely covered in depravity and at the very end you find the culprit: Mayor Julius. Even if he is responsible for the misery, the whole thing didn't go as planned for him. Now it's up to you to decide his fate.
In this situation, you probably only have two options for what to do with him: help him or leave him to his (presumably fatal) fate.
If that was the case for you, then you didn't choose the Gray Wardens as a faction for Rook, because as a Warden you have another option:
You can send Mayor Julius to the Guardian headquarters in Weisshaupt, where he must repent for his actions. This is what it looks like:
No matter which faction you choose, you will always get exclusive answer options in dialogues or people will refer to your connection to the group.
This definitely serves to immerse you, but unfortunately it usually doesn't have as far-reaching consequences as in this case. Your possible actions will later have consequences for completely different people.
What impact does your answer have?
If you only have the two standard options available, then unfortunately the quest cannot end well. However, you won't find out what happens next with Julius until much later. Colleague Eleen broke down the consequences for you in her guide:
With the Guardian option you can ensure that the story about the mayor still produces a good thing in the end. If you decide that Julius should repent, then you can talk to him later in the Hossberg Wetlands. You can see what comes of this in this video:

Julius is now clearly making a real effort to atone for his actions and is helping the Gray Wardens. In fact, he even saved the lives of missing people. A separate on-screen message reminds you that this happened because of your decision.
Which faction do you play and have you already come across special options that other Rooks don't have?
