Although One Piece's main storyline in the anime is taking a break until April 2025, there is still the revamped Fish-Man Island Saga for fans to watch. On Crunchyroll, fans have been able to watch episodes of the popular Shonen anime for free and without advertising and thus follow the adventure of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Now the streaming service has made a surprising announcement for the USA, which could also affect Germany in the future:The majority of One Piece episodes are pushed into the premium membership and are therefore inaccessible to users without this membership.
You will find out in the coming sections which One Piece episodes are affected and whether this change will also happen here.
Change in three phases - from this point onwards it starts
The majority of One Piece episodes on Crunchyroll will be moved to the premium subscription at the end of December 2024. We have put together an overview for you in which you can see when the individual phases of the change will take place and which arcs and episodes of One Piece are affected.

So not all episodes of One Piece are affected, exceptions are the sagas: East Blue, Alabasta and Skypiea. American users can still watch the first 206 episodes of the anime One Piece for free with advertisements on Crunchyroll.
This change from Crunchyroll could also affect Germany
It is not yet known whether the One Piece episodes will be switched to Crunchyroll's premium subscription in Germany. However, since Crunchyroll will most likely strive for global uniformity on this point, we believe an adjustment in this country is very likely.
We contacted the streaming service and asked. We are currently still waiting for a response. If we get an answer, we will add it to this article.
The premium membership with no advertising currently costs 6.99 euros per month if you take out the Crunchyroll fan subscription. With the extended Mega Fan subscription for 9.99 euros you can also save and download the individual episodes offline.
If this change also comes to Germany, fans of One Piece will have to take out at least the fan subscription from December 23, 2024 in order to continue to have access to the arcs mentioned above. Otherwise, only the first 206 episodes up to the Water 7 saga will remain available for non-paying Crunchyroll users.
