Civilization 7 collects massive criticism before the release - now the studio is reacting and revealing first improvements

Civilization 7 will soon get its first big updates.

Actually appears, the new large part of the global strategy series, only tomorrow on February 11, 2025. However, all pre-orders of the deluxe or start-up edition have been able to play in early access since February 6th.

The game was able to collect over 11,000 reviews on Steam before the actual publication. However, these are not particularly good. With just 51 % positive reviews, CIV 7 only makes it on a 'balanced'.

A particularly common criticism is the interface of the game, which is described as unfinished and confusing in many comments. Firaxy now wants to react to these and other points as quickly as possible and promises improvement.

Improvements are on the way

In oneBlogpostThe team introduces the short -term plans and addresses three essential points:

  • Revision of the UI:The feedback was seen and the team is already working to improve experience. This is how the UI should become more intuitive and readability should also be improved.
  • Implementation of the community wishes:Some wishes of the players should be implemented as soon as possible, including
    • The opportunity to found teams in the multiplayer and play cooperatively
    • HotSeat multiplayer who allows games together on a console or a PC
    • Renaming cities and religions
    • Determination of start and end times
  • Quality of Life improvements:In addition to further UI improvements, improvements for AI, diplomacy, crises and bug fixing are called here.

In the test video you can find out what we think of the game:

It is almost a tradition that new civilization parts for the release in parts of the community are only well received by a limited extent and get better over time. It was also positive among the two predecessors who are now rated 95 % (Civilization 5) and 86 % (Civilization 6).

In our test, the game was able to dust 83 points despite a few quirks, onMetacriticIf the game comes to a rating of 81. Now it remains to be seen whether Firaxis can also satisfy disappointed players over time and how the Echo is when the game appears for all buyers of the standard version.

The new civilization is the seventh part of the strategy series and is still developed by inventor and head behind the franchise Sid Meier and his team at Firaxis. Like its predecessors, the game should be expanded over the years and will receive many free and paid updates.

Have you already played and if so, how do you like it so far? What do you think is great and what doesn't? Or do you only start from tomorrow? Tell us in the comments!
