If you want to get a picture of the Gothic remake yourself, you have the opportunity to do so thanks to a special demo as part of the Steam Next.
ThQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive also take part in the Steam Next festival, which was officially started today. In the course of this, you can plunge to a special playable demo of the remake of the RPG classic Gothic and get an idea of the new edition yourself.
The demo called "Nyras Prologue" is playable in the period from February 24 to March 3, 2025 as part of the Steam Next festival and offers you an introduction to the ruthless world of Gothic. In the end of the prologue, she does not slip into the role of the nameless hero of the main game, but experiences the colony from the perspective of Nyras, a freshly convicted prisoner who fights for survival.
The prologue should give you the first insights into the world of remake, its game mechanics and also in the atmosphere of the new edition based on the Unreal Engine 5. In addition, however, the makers point out that this trial version is not yet a final insight into the "intended progress, freedom, simulation and immersion" of the finished product. Rather, it is only a small part of the world with a limited number of mechanics that you can expect. The demo sees itself as the first impression of the graphic and the fights.
If you download the prologue demo on Steam and complete it, you have to plan about an hour of play.
