Epic Games has announced the long-awaited first-person mode for Fortnite for the new week. Here you can find out exactly what awaits you!
The sparrows were whistling it from the rooftops, now it's officially confirmed: long-running Fortnite is actually getting a longed-for first-person mode. This is called “Ballistic” and is scheduled to officially launch in the new week.
Epic Games has initially chosen an early access model to launch this new option. Accordingly, “Ballistic” will start on December 11, 2024 as an additional selection option in Fortnite. A brand new, turn-based and competitive 5-on-5 game mode in the first person perspective awaits you.
According to the developers, a strategic approach, tactical teamwork and individual skills are equally required. There will also be both a ranked and unranked mode in “Ballistic” right in Early Access.
The starting signal for the first-person mode is initially given on the Skyline 10 map. There is also a starting set of weapons and a limited number of items available. After the actual start of the week, adjustments will be made over time based on incoming player feedback. Of course, new maps, weapons and functions are planned for the future.
How does a round in "Ballistic" work? Players are initially divided into attackers and defenders. You then choose one of five Flex Gadgets (Proximity Mine, Bubble Shield, Recon Grenade, Frag Grenade, Impulse Grenade) that you would like to use in the respective round. The attackers must try to place a reality-destroying Rift Point Device in one of two locations on the map, the defenders must of course prevent this. A round ends when the Rift Point Device explodes or one of the teams is completely eliminated. After six rounds the sides switch; A game is over when a team has won a total of 7 rounds.
