News - Borderlands 4: First gameplay shown at the Game Awards

As promised, Gearbox showed off the first gameplay from the upcoming Borderlands 4 at the Game Awards!

In the run-up to The Game Awards 2024, which took place last night, Gearbox in the person of Randy Pitchford had already announced that real gameplay from the new Borderlands 4 would be shown for the first time at the event. Of course, the development studio kept its word and actually presented the trailer.

The trailer in question not only shows explosive gameplay of the new part of the successful series, but also introduces The Timekeeper in more detail. This is a ruthless dictator who controls the masses from above. However, a world-changing catastrophe now threatens to destroy his hitherto perfect order - and this unleashes a lot of chaos on Kairos, the most dangerous planet in the entire Borderlands universe according to official information, which serves as the setting.

Gearbox itself speaks of Borderlands 4 as the “most ambitious game in the series to date”. This is intended to further develop the gameplay of the looter shooter series and also the narrative in a new way and take it to the next level. At the same time, you want to remain true to the core of the popular gameplay.

In short: you can expect tons of action, various exterminators and countless deadly weapons - all on a completely new planet. The exterminators should have the “deepest and most diverse skill trees” in the franchise, which will allow you to customize your own playstyle even better.

You should be able to travel seamlessly between individual zones, and the world should be made dynamic and varied through various events and side missions. The exploration aspect is refined with new movement mechanics. You can summon a vehicle almost anywhere and move quickly through the landscapes of Cairos.

In addition to the solo mode, there is of course also a co-op mode on board again, in which you can hunt for loot with up to three other players. Borderlands 4 is scheduled to release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store); However, there is no specific release date yet. However, you can now add the game to your wish list.

As promised, a new trailer for Borderlands 4 with the first gameplay was shown last night.
