Don't worry, until recently I felt the same way. So I have never tried to put a roll of toilet paper in the fridge beforehand. Why too?
For everyone who wants a short version on the subject, I can say one directly:
- Judging my recent self -experimentation for judging there is no good reason to put toilet paper in the fridge, which also confirm the manufacturers Bosch and Liebherr on my request. So just keep it up as before.
- At the same time, the fact that there is this article is due to the fact that the proposal with the toilet paper roller is actually on the websiteAll gustois made. Therefore, the quote comes from the heading of this article.
- As nonsensical it spontaneously sounds, it somehow made me curious. Especially since I like strongly smelling cheese and my wife hates the stench in the fridge - and this is exactly one of the points where the toilet paper is supposed to help.

What the toilet paper should bring
The article linked above calls the following supposed advantages of toilet paper in the fridge:
- Smells:It should help to alleviate and remove unpleasant smells that are enclosed in the device. This is due to the fact that the paper has a high absorption power and can therefore capture badly smelling particles in the air.
- Preservation:This trick also helps to better preserve food because it absorbs excess moisture.
- Energy consumption:Reducing the water particles should also reduce ice formation and thus also avoid increased power consumption.
To achieve all of this, Tudo Gusto recommends keeping the roll at the back of the refrigerator and changing it every three weeks. No sooner said than done! At least the first part of it.
My refrigerator, the toilet paper & I
My self -experiment with the toilet paper should not make it too easy for the chilled roll. Therefore, I got myself particularly intensely smelling cheese (see the picture above) and stored it openly in the fridge.
I also looked at how much moisture could be seen on the back walls before and after (see the comparison pictures below).
Ultimately, I can only offer you subjective impressions and the refrigerator was not always exactly the same. But the conclusion that the toilet paper has no noticeable effects has been determined after the test.
Based on my experiences, I can only say that the smell of the cheese has not become a little less and I have not noticed any differences in water formation or in other areas either.

When forming water drops on the back, after five days with a toilet paper roller, I found no significant difference.
What do fridge manufacturers say?
In a similar horn as I blow on my request, Bosch and Liebherr. Because of possible mold formation, the latter even warn of following Tudo Gusto's tip (at least with a view to the time of three weeks until the role of change).
However, I would also have been very surprised if the manufacturers of modern refrigerators, of all things, had confirmed that it is worthwhile to put a role of toilet paper in there.
Despite the inevitable PR-Sprech, I do not want to withhold the complete answers from you. Please very much!
Bosch's answer
As for the use of toilet paper in the fridge interior, I would advise you to thoroughly clean the interior in the event of odor formation-also and especially for hygienic reasons. In the case of strong smelling foods such as cheese, we recommend storage in a box provided.
A certain amount of moisture is desired in the refrigerator to make foods such as fish, meat, vegetables or fruit for a long time. However, this moisture only takes place in specially intended areas/drawers. In order to avoid unnecessary moisture (and especially in the wrong zones) and thereby avoid ice formation in the refrigerator and to ensure consistently constant energy efficiency, our no-frost technology is now widely installed in our range.

Liebherr's answer
Our devices have a freshair activated carbon filter, so that there is always fresh air in the interior. The filter is located directly on the air flow in the fan housing and neutralizes smells as far as possible. The display of the device is reminiscent of a filter change.
For the optimal storage of different foods, we have developed (already in 1991) Biofresh: the combination of perfect temperature and ideal humidity keeps food fresh for up to 5x longer. The temperature in the Biofresh subjects is almost 0 ° C. A high humidity is useful for fruit and vegetables-provided they are stored unpacked. In this way, nutrients and vitamins are retained as long as possible. The longer durability also ensures that food does not have to be spoiled so quickly and less often have to be disposed of if it is stored properly. Meat and fish can also be kept optimally in accordance with their storage conditions -e.g. in the Biofresh Meat & DIARY -Fach or in Fish & Seafood Safe, where fish and salmon are stored under optimal temperatures of -2 ° C, which means that it even remains fresh for up to 4 days.
The formation of water particles is not crucial for energy consumption. The evaporator in the device is always activated when it determines an increase in the interior temperature (for example by opening/closing the device door) and wants to restore the set cooling temperature - this requires energy.
For hygienic reasons alone, we [...] would not recommend keeping a toilet paper roll in the fridge next to [...] food and left it there for three weeks. Because, as they already thought, it absorbs moisture and can thus form a stove for bacteria.
What remains in the end
Admittedly, the toilet paper in the refrigerator has two noticeable effects: On the one hand, I had a little less space, especially since I - adventurous and crazy, as I am now - put two different roles in it.
On the other hand, it could cause an unusual refreshment on the toilet in summer. I try that out immediately if we are 30 degrees with us again at some point. But don't worry: I don't write an article with photos.
