What is an affiliate link?In addition to editorial, we also set shop links, so-called affiliate links in our articles. As soon as an article contains affiliate links, we indicate this at the beginning of the article - in the form of this box:
Some links built into this page are so-called affiliate links. Depending on the provider, GameStar receives a small commission when buying on these links - without the impact on the price.More information.
Alternatively, we mark the complete article as a display. If someone clicks on such a link in the post and buy a product in the online shop, we get a commission from the shop. This commission is paid by the dealer, not from the manufacturer and the price of the product does not increase.
What rules apply to the authors of the texts with affiliate links? Our authors are not individually involved in the commissions, so that there are no incentives to recommend certain products or particularly expensive goods.
What are the forms of advertising on Gamestar?Companies can advertise on GAMESTAR.de, e.g. via banner, but also in the form of advertorials or native -ads - which are always labeled transparently as a display. What is not identified as advertising is also not an advertisement. Companies have no way of buying editorial reporting or influencing the way that games or hardware are discussed, for example.
What about buying advice?Buying advice is content that contains affiliate links and are written by their own team of authors. Companies cannot buy a placement in these articles. Our authors write the texts to the best of our knowledge and belief and only recommend the products that they are convinced. Shop links are then set to these products.
What happens to hardware? For the testing wake, our authors are sometimes sent hardware from manufacturers. After the test of this hardware, send the products back to the manufacturer. The evaluation of the respective product is not influenced by this.
