Have you ever wondered where all the children are inare? A producer of the game now has the answer for you: they were left out on purpose so as not to stand in the way of realism.
Dreams big, but realistically calculate
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a game known for its strong realism. The predecessor had already created the basis and the sequel put a step again. In this medieval RPG you have to take care of almost all needs of Henry. From sleeping, eating, having regular washing and repairing clothes to weapons, you have a lot of things to consider to survive in the Bohemia of the 15th century. Essen also spoils over time, so you can't like withcarry around with you forty forty cheese wheels.
But one thing has noticed fans of the super-realistic medieval epic since the first part: there is now nowhere only one child. During a Panel of Comic-Con in Prague, the Executive producer of the game, Martin Klíma, was now clear why this decision was made. First and foremost, it was about avoiding Prosal and ethical controversy.
"The problem when inserting children is that one then rely on the fact that players are good people in the game, which a large part of the player world would simply not do," explains Klíma during the panel. "Inserting children would increase realism. But if you could not attack it, it would not be such a realistic simulation. And if you could attack them, you don't want people to make videos of how to throw another corpse on a bunch of children's corporation."
No second Skyrim
So the Warhorse Studios stood in front of the Skyrim dilemma. If you add children and make them invulnerable or you prefer to stay realistic with everything else and leave out children. Even if children in Skyrim are invulnerable, you can get rid of them with certain summoning magic. It cannot be ruled out that there would have been a similar workaround in Kingdom Come and the developers probably wanted to avoid that.
So better leave out children instead of bringing them into play unrealistically and in the end still having some bug or something like that of children. I also have to honestly say that until I saw a Reddit post about it, I didn't even notice that there are no children.
How is that with you? Does it bother you and make the game more unrealistic or does the topic simply leave you cold?
