Better than Nintendo and Sony - Phil Spencer says that the next Xbox against Playstation and Switch should win

Phil Spencer already has ideas about how Xbox can play with the consoles again.

At the moment it looks pretty dark with a view to the sales of Xbox consoles. A team of analysts recently has oneMessagePublished according to which the Xbox Series X | S consoles are selling worse and are currently even 18 percent behind Xbox One in the same period.

For Phil Spencer-CEO of the entire Gaming division from Microsoft-this is no longer a reason to not stick to console hardware. On the contrary, even: he says that he absolutely wants to "win" with the upcoming Xbox platforms.

Phil Spencer continues to believe in console hardware

In the recent edition of theGamerTag Radio-PodcastsXbox boss Phil Spencer has chatted about the future of the brand and his expectations of consoles and handhelds. It is clear to him that it is primarily about the games that appear on it, but above all the opportunity to play them on as many paths as possible.

In doing so, he addresses the previous strategy to bring Xbox as a service to as many devices as possible and to publish Xbox games on competing platforms. For example, andOn the PlayStation 5.

When asked why someone should buy an Xbox, Spencer replies:

“I want people to buy the hardware devices that offer them the most options. And that the devices fit where they want to play. I want our hardware to win based on the possibilities it offers. ”

For him, consoles are also an essential part of the Xbox DNA:

“I think our own hardware is fundamental with regard to what Xbox is actually. I have never forgotten that and I say it again and again: Box is on behalf of our brand. In the position in which I am in, I say that my own hardware is a critical part of what we do. ”

Spencer continues to see "Xbox" as a pure software product, but repeats its intentions to continue building hardware. Only they should not be a means of excluding players of certain titles.

So Spencer believes to be able to inspire the players for Xbox

Spencer sees innovative hardware as a core element to bring players to the Xbox - they should provide a better experience than on all other platforms. It is currently unlikely that it is about performance. The Xbox Series X is already stronger than a PS5 on paper in some disciplines, but it hardly helped in the duel with Sony.

Instead, it could amount to the expansion to handhelds with high ease of use and innovative gimmicks. Spencer always speaks of handheld hardware, including with reference to Windows handhelds such as thatorLenovo Legion Gowhere he can see that Xbox and Windows still have a lot of potential for improvements.

And we see it similarly:

An Xbox handheld is loudeven in the do.How it should work on the console market? It is difficult to say. "Innovation" is a wide term and can mean a lot.

In fact, Spencer could brew an aspect of the most successful Xbox console so far, the Xbox 360:The Xbox CEO says that developers are made as easy as possible to develop their games and publish them on Xbox (as a general platform).

With this simple approach, Microsoft kept the PS3 in chess at the time, but Sony and Nintendo have not slept in the meantime and are now pursuing a similar approach. So it remains to be seen what the Xbox division will do differently than with the Series X and S in the future.

What would you like from the upcoming Xbox consoles? Have you switched to Playstation and have ideas about what could bring you back to Xbox?
