Shortly after the intro, the open world game releases youon PS5 and PC already on the tutorial island. Here the most important mechanics are explained to you, you build your first village and plant the first ecosystem. However, I still felt a bit lost when I started the game and some important insights came a bit too late.
So that you don't make the same mistakes, I have five tips for you that I would have been happy about. Ignorance is not a reason for failure in the fantasy world of Aghasba, but it can still cost a lot of time. If you want to find out more about the game, please take a lookpure, which is based on the first few hours of play.
Tip 1: Do the first quests and explore later
Already the tutorial island is quite large and has some cool secrets hidden. I allowed myself to explore the wilderness a few minutes after starting and that was a mistake. With too little equipment and, above all, too little knowledge, you can't do much on the map. Even if you discover a secret, you should take care of a bow and a campfire, among other things.
So first stubbornly follow the main quest and help your clan build the first village. Not only will you learn many useful skills, but you will also receive necessary tools, learn how to build a place to sleep and much more.
You can't miss anythingand return to the tutorial island at any time. Some discoveries are even initially useless. For example, reaching a hidden temple with a teleport stone doesn't do you any good so early in the game and you have to go back there later anyway. Save yourself the time and learn all the basics first.
Tip 2: Healing has to be learned
The second tip follows on almost seamlessly. You can sleep in your tent, which you can build fairly quickly, but that doesn't heal you. If you explore and encounter monsters, they will deal a lot of damage at the beginning.
At the very beginning, your only option for healing is berries, which you can find everywhere. But you can only treat yourself really efficiently if you have a campfire to cook with. The first dishes such as nutritious salad or meat skewers heal almost all health points.
Fortunately, developer Dreamlit has brought forward the time at which you unlock the campfire with a patch. I still had to wait until the first farm. For you, it should be one of the first objects you build!
Tip 3: Place your first giant tree as close to the village as possible
In the first few hours of the game you will often walk back and forth between your first ecosystem and the village. You have to maintain a minimum distance, but don't place your tree further away than necessary. The first time I paid more attention to where a green meadow landscape would look most beautiful and regretted it a short time later.
Tip 4: You get fish from above - and at midday
Very early on you will be given the task of catching fish by the tribe's hunter. She recommends you use the bow. But I would encourage you to take the javelin that you get from her and build it yourself from now on.
Stay on the rock the huntress is standing on. But let yourself fall down a ledge on the side of the small lake. This way you are closer to the water and can look at it from above. Beforehand, sleep in the tent until midday. Then the sun is above you and the reflections are significantly less annoying. At first I wasted far too much time on the flat shore, where I couldn't see anything through the waves and light.
The spear has a significantly larger hitbox than the bow and arrow. The small fish are therefore much easier to hit. But there is one disadvantage: If you miss and only have one spear in your inventory, you have to dive and bring it up.
Tip 5: Important and unimportant items
If you play like me, you will constantly run out of inventory space. Thanks to tip 1, you should place several storage boxes in the village fairly quickly. Nevertheless, things can get tight in your backpack when you're out and about. The currently annoying menu management doesn't make this any better.
Items that you often need and shouldn't scrap:
- Wood and tree bark
- a few sticks and stones (for new tools)
- Flintstones
- High
- Dung
- fibers (for ropes)
If the going gets tough, you probably won't need these items at the beginning:
- Money
- Goldstaub
- Bone
- Loot from monsters (poison bags, sour tar)
- More than one stack of common seeds (30x)
More about Towers of Aghasba
If you are currently hesitating or waiting for a specific feature of Towers of Aghasba, you should take a lookthrow. Among other things, quality of life changes are planned for this year. It remains to be seen whether these will change anything about the still confusing menu structure.
Since the game is still in Early Access, there are likely to be many updates in the future. Dreamlit has already worked on the balancing to make getting started more pleasant. For example, fish swim closer to the surface of the water after a patch and tools no longer wear out when you use them to defend yourself against a monster.
Hopefully these tips could help a little. If you have any suggestions of your own, feel free to write them in the comments!
