This is what awaits you at Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel
That's what it's about:In Fobia you play as journalist Roberto and go to a region with the illustrious name of Treze Trilhas to get to the bottom of strange phenomena in a creepy, old-fashioned hotel. A ghost girl is said to be up to mischief between chandeliers and musty carpets. But you quickly realize that there are even worse beasts hanging around there.
What's more, the stately house with Resident Evil 1 flair develops a life of its own and suddenly turns into a lonely hovel that Roberto hardly recognizes.
Here you can find more highlights from the sale, including even more survival horror:
Classic survival horror mechanics
As you try to understand what's going on here and at the same time avoid dying, you'll be confronted with everything you'd traditionally expect from the genre:
Missing keys, door codes and elevators that you have to get back into operation, monsters that eat loads of lead before you finish them off, a stomping guy chasing you and safe rooms where save points lure you with melancholic piano music. By the way, the game is played in the first person perspective.
You can read about it in more detail in the game presentation:
87% ofSteam-Userhave rated Fobia positively. OnMetacriticThe indie horror is a bit behind in the critics with an average score of 73. By the way, you can grab the game on Steam for just 3.74 euros.
Who is Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel for and who is it not for?
Fobia St. Dinfna Hotel should appeal to you if you are a fan of classic survival horror and are looking for a small portion of goosebumps in between. The game does a good job of creating and maintaining a tense atmosphere in the dark hallways. The usual mechanics are also solidly implemented.
However, you shouldn't expect a polished AAA experience à la Resident Evil from Fobia. Anyone looking for great innovation or a gripping story may not be happy here. The latter works well as a substructure, but it certainly doesn't reinvent the wheel and is more of an accessory.
Are you Resident Evil fans and do you already know the game? Or could it perhaps be a new discovery for you?
