While the One Piece anime is on hiatus until February and instead offers fans a revised version of the Fish-Man Island Saga, the manga is turning up the heat with new characters in the Elban arc.
Spoilerwarnung! The following sections contain spoilers for the current manga chapters 1130 and 1131, which discuss a specific giant warrior on Elban and his possible hidden powers.
One Piece introduces fans of the series to the cursed Prince Loki in Chapter 1130, who is also referred to as the disgrace of Elban by all the giants on the island. However, Loki himself introduces himself to Luffy as the “Sun God” during the conversation.
A One Piece fan seems to have his own theory about Loki's idea of being a sun god and how that relates to the actual origin of Luffy's devil fruit and Shanks:
Loki believes he ate the legendary devil fruit “Nika” of Elban and thereby gained the powers of the sun god, but it may have been a fake or another fruit. However, the actual legendary devil fruit is said to have ended up with Luffy via Shanks, who ultimately ate it.
“Nika” is a legendary devil fruit from Elban that was secretly swapped
One Piece fan and X user@writingpaniniputs forward an interesting theory regarding Loki's claim to be the "Sun God." What if the cursed prince was tricked?

In his published contribution to the theory, Panini makes the following assumptions:
- There is a legend on Elban about a “sun god” named Nika.
- Nika was considered a legendary warrior.
- The World Government calls Nika's Devil Fruit a legend.
- Nika could be the legendary devil fruit from the fairy tales of Elban, which gives incredible powers.
- Loki killed his father to obtain the legendary Devil Fruit of Elban, which had been passed down in his family for years.
- In between there was a mix-up or an exchange of the fruit.
- Loki ate his family's devil fruit, which ended up not being the legendary devil fruit.
- Luffy ate the actual legendary devil fruit from Elban.
Panini concludes that Loki may have eaten a devil fruit that he believed gave him the powers of the "sun god Nika." But what if there was a mix-up or an exchange beforehand?
The World Government and Shanks are responsible for the mix-up or exchange
The One Piece fan continues to spin his theory. Either someone had access to the legendary Devil Fruit on Elban and sold it to the World Government, or the World Government took the Devil Fruit by force or through a secret barter deal. After all, Nika's very existence seems to worry the government.
So the world government found out about the existence of the so-called Nika-Nika fruit and traded it. Red-haired Shanks and his band of pirates then stole the devil fruit during transport. So it happened that young Luffy accidentally ate the fruit.
It is possible that Shanks knew about the true existence of the Devil Fruit, as he did not show surprise at Luffy's transformation into Gear 5, but rather proud. It appears that he has maintained good contact with the giant on Elban over the years and he has told them about the Straw Hats' hardships on Egghead Island in order to help Luffy.
Luffy has the true Sun God powers and Loki was tricked
This means that Luffy's fruit could be the legendary devil fruit of Elban called "Nika". In the history of One Piece, Luffy has also been repeatedly compared to Joy Boy and the legendary sun god and warrior Nika.
After Joy Boy's death, the fruit of the legendary Sun God may have reappeared on Elban and was in the possession of Loki's family for a short time before Luffy ate it.
Through an unnoticed exchange or mix-up, Loki may have eaten a devil fruit that he thought was the legendary Sun God fruit, which is why he gave himself the title of Sun God when he met Luffy.
What is your opinion on this theory and what kind of devil powers do you think the cursed Prince Loki has?
