There were plenty of revelations at the big Nintendo Direct to Switch 2. There were also a few new first party games like Mario Kart World or Donkey Kong Bananza. What is actually a reason for joy should make one or the other swallow if the view of the prices of the games falls.
Mario Kart World and Co. become more expensive
Nintendo not only revealed the release (June 5, 2025) and price (469.99 euros for the standard edition) of the Switch 2, we already know how much they will cost in two of the first party games. However, the price also has it all.
On the officialStore sideFrom Nintendo we can discover thatBattles up to 90 euros. Specifically, you pay depending on the edition:
- Digital:79,99 Euro
- Physically: 89,99 Euro
In itself, this is already a rich price. It is also striking that the physical version of the game is more expensive than the digital. And this is not an error or an individual case.
This shows a look at the second game in the list where the price is known. AtYou also have to put it on if you want to have a physical version on the shelf:
- Digital:69,99 Euro
- Physically: 79,99 Euro
So it seems as if this is a new Nintendo marketing strategy. We still have to wait and see whether all Switch 2 games or only first party titles are affected.
Mario Kart World can also be grabbed cheaper
At least for Mario Kart World, there is a little "trick" so that you don't have to dig into your pockets as deep. A Mario Kart World Edition also appears for the Switch 2, which includes both the hybrid console and the game.
To do this, you then pay 509.99 euros instead of 469.99 euros for the standard version of the Switch 2-and thus effectively only 40 euros for Mario Kart World. However, other games like Donkey Kong cannot benefit from this.
What do you say about the Switch 2 at the prices and the difference between physical and digital games?
