The My Hero Academia manga actually published its last chapter on August 4th and concluded the story of the superhero Deku. My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi surprisingly announced a few months ago that there would be a "very last" chapter to the manga.

For the release of the 431st chapter on December 3, 2024 and thus the final conclusion of the My Hero Academia story, there was a surprising collaboration between Marvel and the My Hero Academia creator in which drawings were exchanged.

While Kohei Horikoshi's Spiderman drawing is highly praised by fans of the superhero manga series, there is harsh criticism for the Marvel artists. The reason: It seems as if they made a mistake in the skin color when portraying a particularly popular superheroine from My Hero Academia -Mirko, also known as Rumi Usagiyama.

Fans are upset due to the misrepresentation of Mirko's skin color

To congratulate My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi, Marvel published an X-post in which both collaboration drawings can be seen. On the left is Horikoshi's Spiderman drawing, with All Might and Deku visible in the background.

On the right is a drawing by Marvel artists Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado depicting several superheroines from My Hero Academia alongside Black Cat.

Pictured by Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado are Mt. Lady, Star and Stripe, Ochaco Uraraka, Tsuyu Asui, Momo Yaoyorozu, Setsuna Tokage and Mirko. Although fans react positively to the collaboration, there is still one detail that is a thorn in the side of the My Hero Academia community:Mirko's skin color.

"Damned. Was it really that hard to look up what the MHA characters look like? That’s embarrassing.”

Fans of the popular Shonen series express offended comments about the color choice of the superheroine's skin tone. After all, her skin has a darker tone in both the anime and the manga - but this doesn't seem to have been taken into account in the collaboration image.

The actual picture on Edgar Delgado's X-profile doesn't make it any better

After publishing the image on Marvel's official X account, Edgar Delgados republished the image on his own X profile, complete with adjusted skin color - which was still too light!

It appears that Mirko's skin was set lighter when the image was released by Marvel on X, as she appears on theofficial image of the publisherand Delgado's X profile is darker. Marvel may have reworked the drawing when uploading the image or it may have been a processing error on X's part.

Accordingly, fans are still upset with Edgar Delgado's portrayal of Mirko and are advising artists to do better research next time before coloring and drawing a character outside of the Marvel Universe.

What is your opinion on the Marvel drawing of the My Hero Academia characters and how did you like the ending of the manga series?
