GTA 6 on Xbox Series S: This is what publisher Take-Two says about the version for the less powerful console

How the significantly weaker Xbox will cope with this gaming monster remains exciting.

Almost a year ago, Rockstar and Take-Two released the first trailerwas shown and there was a lot to see that requires a lot of hardware performance. Not only did the graphics generally look absolutely fantastic, but there was also a lot going on in the huge open areas.

Not only did we marvel at the amount of city dwellers (and not forgetting the Chihuahua) on the beach and in the streets; The level of detail, lighting and foresight were also impressive.

The question of how the least powerful console of the current generation, i.e. the Xbox Series S, is supposed to cope with this is definitely justified. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick made a statement about this.

Take-Two has little concern about the Series S

In a conference call about the quarterly results, Zelnick was asked about the Series S version (viatranscript). An analyst pointed out that GTA 6 will obviously push some technical boundaries.

Zelnick responded that he was “not really worried.”He said it was important for the publisher to be present on the platforms that players are on. He added:

We find a way to support platforms despite different tech levels. Our brands are really good at this.

As expected, however, the CEO did not go into technical details. Instead, he elaborated a bit and explained:

I never worried about where the hardware went. And I've said this many times over the years, firstly, because I don't worry about things over which I have zero control. And secondly, because I believe in the audience. The audience comes when you have great brands and so we just need to make sure we're on a large number of platforms.

In the following, Zelnick spoke about PCs and revealed that they are currently seeing great growth here and expect even more in the future. According to the CEO, the basic approach is to make everything technically possible as long as there are enough people on a platform.

It is hardly surprising that Zelnick emphasizes that they are still being selective. As a publisher, Take-Two is of course primarily interested in the platforms that are most worthwhile. What the Series S version actually looks like and what compromises can be found here so that the version runs well remains exciting, of course.

What do you expect from the Series S version? Are you as calm as the CEO about this or are you very worried?
