The Gothic remake was already on sale with a 30% discount - but it doesn't even have a release date yet

What's going on there? A game without a release period is already on sale?

Pre-orders are nothing new in the video game cosmos. You have been able to secure hotly anticipated titles for a long time before their release on the official release date. Many games now come with pre-order bonuses, which often consist of codes for in-game items.

Whether that is also the caseis the case is currently still unclear, but the game, or rather GameStop, has attracted attention for other reasons anyway.

Generous discount for a game without a release date

User Wario64 shared an interesting observation regarding the Gothic remake on the social media platform Bluesky. Look for yourself:

GameStop not only offered the remake as a pre-order, but also for a short time at around 30 percent discount. The bill:The price of $39.99 is approximately 38 euros. These are around 30 percent of the recommended retail price (RRP) of the Gothic remakeAmazon, which is currently 54.49 euros. On the German oneWebsitePre-ordering from GameStop currently costs even more at 59.99 euros.

While the pre-order itself is not unusual, the discount is the striking point. During our research, we were able to find the Gothic remake for pre-order from various providers on the Internet, but usually at a price of around 50 euros.

The 30% discount is most likely due to an error. If we follow the link from user Wario64's post, it now only leads to an error message. That doesn't rule out the possibility that the game will appear on sale again at GameStop or elsewhere.

The Gothic remake and the missing release date

If we look at the various pre-orders for the remake of Gothic, we find December 31, 2025 as the current release date. At the end of May this year, the colleagues fromGameStarreports that an annual report stated that the remake of Gothic should be released by April 1st, 2025.

Since the two dates are at the end of a year or fiscal year, they are most likely just placeholders. It is currently unclear when the Gothic remake will appear.

However, the different placeholders and the option to pre-order suggest that at least we won't have to wait many more years for the remake.
