Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama's masterpiece and one of the most important shonen manga of all time, is celebrating a big anniversary these days. Exactly 40 years ago, the 51st Shonen Jump issue was released with the first chapter of Dragon Ball, marking the start of Son Goku's adventures in the popular series.

To properly celebrate the anniversary and honor the deceased mangaka, those responsible behind Dragon Ball have come up with something very special:A collectible figure of Goku and Bulma that is a faithful replica of the cover illustration from the 51st Shonen Jump issue!

A perfect replica of the original drawing by Akira Toriyama

Just like Akira Toriyama's drawing from the time, the anniversary collector's figure shows the young Bulma with a red bow in her hair and in sporty clothing on a red motorcycle. Meanwhile, Son Goku flies away on Jindujun, his supersonic cloud, in his blue martial arts clothing with his red monk's staff on his back.

The manufacturers Figuarts also thought about the details of the figure's background and also adopted the violet-colored disk from Toriyama's original drawing.

But that's not all. In addition to the loving details such as the lettering on Bulma's motorcycle, there is another special feature of the nostalgic collectible figure - namely its size

The height of the figure is said to be around 17 centimeters and is therefore the same size as the Shonen Jump edition at the time and the cover picture drawn by Akira Toriyama. This newly introduced Figuarts Dragon Ball collectible figure is a perfect 3D replica of the most important drawing in Dragon Ball history in all areas and at the same time a tribute to its late creator.

If you want to buy the figure, you'll have to be patient. So far there is neither a release date nor a price information for the figure. The Bulma and Goku collector's item is part of the Figuart ZERO series, which has also included One Piece models in the past.
