After Days Gone: First images of new Sony Bend game leaked

No, unfortunately Deacon is not expected to return in the new Bend Studio game.

Although it is far from a perfect game and was labeled a flop by Sony at the time, the title still has something of a cult status among its fans today. So it's no surprise that fans are eagerly awaiting what's next from developer Bend Studio.

Now some images have surfaced online that could potentially give us a first look at this new project.

Here's what we might know about Bend Studio's new IP

Even though some fans will certainly still be hoping for a Days Gone 2, Bend Studio has long since confirmed that Sony will probably not give the green light here. Instead, the studio has focused on another project that the developer has been working on for several years.

Now the first images of this game may have appeared. Like the pagemp1stThere are some interesting images in the portfolio of a UI designer who worked at Bend Studio from 2022 to March 2024, but whose identity the site does not share.

Among them are some designs for a game that appears to be a third-person shooter. There is also a UI design that uses an image from Days Gone - but mp1st suspects that this is purely a placeholder image, so the new game has nothing to do with the IP.

The images show, among other things, some weapon menus, which also contain the categories crafting, inventory, map and help. There is also what appears to be a player character in military gear in an arena and a kind of hub area.

Already a few months agoJob postingshave surfaced suggesting that Bend Studio could be working on a live service game. That would certainly fit the shooter gameplay and crafting and EXP system suggested here. Together with the outfit of the character depicted, we could expect a multiplayer military shooter.

This would partially coincide with statements from Bend Studio, who had already revealed that they were working on a new IP with multiplayer. However, it should also be based on the open-world systems of Days Gone - how that could fit into a military shooter is not entirely clear.

Some fans are probably hoping for a game in the style of Siphon Filter, after all Studio Bend (then still under the name Eidetic) was already responsible for the series. The military reference would definitely fit here. Since Bend Studio explicitly wants to work on a new IP, this seems rather unlikely.

In any case, it cannot be said with certainty whether these images are really insights into the new project from the Days Gone studio and even if they do, to what extent they reflect the current state of the game. So, as always, you should treat this leak with caution. At least it would fit with Sony's plan to focus more on live service games in the next few years.

What would you think if Bend Studio's new project was a live-service military shooter?
