Quadruple Super Saiyan is perhaps one of the most controversial, yet popular Saiyan transformations in the Dragon Ball universe. This particular transformation is the ultimate form of a Saiyan who has mastered his primitive yet immensely powerful Weir Ape abilities and powers -The Origin of Saiyan Strength!

Here you will find out where the Super Saiyan 4 transformation actually comes from and what special conditions must be met in order to achieve and master this form.

The first appearance of the quadruple Super Saiyan in the anime series and the actual creator of the design

The quadruple Super Saiyan first appeared in the 34th episode of Dragon Ball GT in the fight against the antagonist Baby and was a big surprise.

At the time, fans did not expect that there would be a stronger Saiyan transformation other than the Triple, and certainly not a form that incorporated the Saiyans' original monkey tail.

In addition, the design of the Super Saiyan also differs greatly from the well-known character concepts of the Saiyan transformation - and there is a reason for that. Dragon Ball creator and mangaka Akira Toriyama had little involvement in the production of GT, leaving most of it to the animation team at Toei Animation.

Basically, Toriyama hardly contributed anything to the anime series and the design of the quadruple Super Saiyan was not created by him, but by Toeis' in-house character designer Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru.

The reason for the standout design of the quadruple Super Saiyan

In oneInterviewfrom the Japanese volume “Dragon Ball Back Then Vol. 3”, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru reveals how he came up with the special Saiyan form and what he was thinking about when designing it.

It was important to Nakatsuru that the quadruple be very different from the three other Super Saiyan transformations from Dragon Ball Z - just in appearance. This led him to decide to change the hair color from gold to black and to give the shape a wilder look through further adjustments such as the red-magenta fur on the upper body.

Already in the concept phase, Nakatsuru had the intention that Son Goku should retain his true monkey powers in this powerful form and represent a kind of “Goku with primal power”. Therefore, the character designer added the fur and monkey tail of the Saiyans when designing.

The specifics and conditions of Quadruple Super Saiyan

According to the story in Dragon Ball GT, the powerful Quadruple Super Saiyan form can only be achieved if the Saiyan can transform into the Golden Weapon Ape. According to legend, at the time of Goku and Vegeta's transformation into the golden warrior monkey, only the legendary Super Saiyan had achieved this around 1000 years ago.

However, in order to advance to Super Saiyan 4, it is not enough to reach the Golden Weir Ape state. This also needs to be brought under control. After all, it is already a difficult task for many of the people's fighters to have the normal weir ape form under control, let alone maintain and control reason when transforming into the golden form .

However, if a Saiyan manages to stay sane and control his anger as a golden defense monkey, he becomes a quadruple Super Saiyan. The Saiyan then transforms back into a humanoid Weir Ape form, with long black hair, magenta fur, a monkey tail, and gold pupils with red rims on his eyes.

In addition, according to Goku's own statement in GT, the Saiyan in this form is said to lose part of his rationality and reason in battle.

This form is said to be so powerful that it surpasses even the powers of the mighty Shenlong and the Dragon Balls, thus nullifying Pilaf's wish from Dragon Ball GT. Son Goku transforms back into an adult during his transformation into Quadruple Super Saiyan in the fight against Baby, despite previously becoming an infant through Pilaf's wish. It is also the only form that, according to history, harnesses the full power of the golden weir monkey.

What is your opinion on the Quadruple Super Saiyan and do you want this form back in Dragon Ball Daima?
