Everywhere incute little animals are running around. Feeding them is not only pretty sweet, but you also get rare materials and can even make friends with the animals. Then they follow you everywhere. We'll explain what you have to do here.

Tame small animals with favorite foods and get them as companions
There are small wild animals running around everywhere in the world of Dreamlight Valley. Do you feed them?twice with their favorite food, they become tame and you get them as companions. Sometimes you can also get dream shards from them for feeding them.
Animals can't be fed?
Sometimes you can't give the animals any food at all. This is because you have already fed it that day; you can only give each animal food once a day. So you have to plan several days for taming.
Collect animals: This is how you can choose your companions
If you have tamed an animal and want it to follow you, simply open the inventory and then go to the tab on the leftWardrobe. Here you choosecompanionand you can choose an animal from your tamed ones to run after you.

Now new are three animals from the second expansion The Storybook Vale. They are each located in one of the three new biomes. To gain access you must have the paid addon.
Feeding owls
- Location:The binding and library
- Variants:Brown, dark, light, purple
- Favorite food:Loves barley and likes all kinds of grains
This is how you approach them:Just go to them, they won't run away.
Feed Pegasus
- Location:Mythopia
- Variants:Pink, peach, yellow, blue
- Favorite food:Loves vegetable dishes with 4+ stars, likes all vegetable dishes
This is how you approach them:Run after them until they lie down exhausted.
Feeding dragons
- Location:Forest of Eternity
- Variants:Red, green, blue, purple
- Favorite food:Loves magma and pure ice, likes all gemstones
This is how you approach them:Sneak up slowly, otherwise they will curl up.
Feed turtles, raccoons etc., that's how it works
You can feed some of the animals without any problems, others make it more difficult for you to approach them.
Feed squirrels

- Variants:black, classic, gray, red, white
- Favorite food:Loves peanuts and likes all fruits

Feeding the crocodile
- Location:Clearing of trust
- Variants:blue, classic, gold, pink, red, white
- Favorite food:Loves lobster and likes herring and octopus
This is how you approach them:Only approach them when their heads are down and stop when they raise it. If they notice you, they run away. Patience is required here.
Feed rabbits

- Favorite food:Loves carrots and likes all vegetables
This is how you approach them:They run away from you when you approach them. Follow them three times and you can feed them.
Feeding turtles
- Location:Dazzling beach
- Variants:black, brown, classic, purple, white
- Favorite food:Loves seaweed and enjoys all seafood
This is how you approach them:The sea turtle retreats into its shell when you approach. Wait quietly next to them until they come out again.
Feeding raccoons
- Location:Forest of Valor

- Favorite food:Loves blueberries and all berries

Feed fox

Feeding sunbirds

Feeding cobras, capybaras and monkeys: This is how you get the animals from A Rift In Time
In the first DLC "A Rift in Time" there are three new animals that you can find in one of the three biomes. The prerequisite for this is that you have the paid extension.
Feed monkeys

- Favorite food:Loves any 5 star dessert and likes 3 to 4 star desserts

More animal companions
In addition to the free-roaming animals, there are also several other companions that you can obtain in various ways. These are currently available in the game:
- Baby-Pegasus:This companion as a small homage to Disney's animated filmHerculesfrom 1997 you only get the Magical Edition of The Storybook Vale.
- Chocolate crocodile:You will receive this companion automatically if you have played the game once within the first week of Early Access (already over)
- Celestial Sea Turtle:This companion is available in the Luxury Edition and the Ultimate Edition
- King Fox:This companion is available in the Ultimate Edition
- Pua:Once you have reached friendship level eight with Moana, she will give you the quest "Looking for Pua". Complete the quest and you will receive Pua as a companion.
Events:You can also get companions during the regular events that you can access from the menu. To do this, you have to complete various tasks and receive your own currency that you can use to buy rewards. So it can be worthwhile to stop by the events every now and then.
