Fast travel can be dangerous in Assassin's Creed Shadows - especially if you're traveling with the wrong character

Assassin's Creed Shadows takes us less by the hand.

Even ifwas recently postponed again, we don't have to wait too long for the next part of the big Ubisoft series. We can plunge into feudal Japan as early as March 20th.

In oneBlogpostThe developers now talked about a few new details about exploration and make it clear:"We don't want to take the players too much by the hand."Viewing points once again play an important role, but this time they should be viewed with caution.

Think carefully about which character you use fast travel with

The legendary viewpoints also return in Shadows and, as in their direct predecessors, they once again serve as fast travel points. However, in the Japanese branch these can also be in enemy territory.

Depending on your character, this can be uncomfortable, because while Naoe can easily climb up and down the outside with her grappling hook, the beefy Yasuke simply has to rely on the stairs in some places and has to fight his way through the guards.

This also fits with the changes to the parkour system, which are intended to challenge us more:

According to the information in the blog post, if the fast travel point is on a tenshu, the highest tower of each fortress, escaping can be quite challenging. So we should always think about which places we go to and with which character.

Less icons, more exploration

But there are also some changes regarding the viewing points. From the predecessors, we are used to uncovering large sections of the map and thus all the important places in the area when we climb it for the first time.

In Shadows, only details in the immediate surroundings are now highlighted - such as temples or castles. Instead, it becomes important to observe the environment, listen to NPCs and explore locations independently.

Over time, we will also receive support from a growing group of Scouts who can help us explore the world, find new quest objectives and locate resources.

During the week, our colleague Annika was in Canada for you to get your own impression of the game at a play event for Assassin's Creed Shadows. You'll soon be able to find out a lot more about the title here on GamePro.
