News - The Witcher IV: Yes, you heard that right, Ciri has a new voice

The trailer for The Witcher IV was certainly one of the big surprises of the Game Awards and little by little more information about the new main character is leaking out.

The Witcher IV is alive and Geralt's foster daughter Ciri becomes our new main character. The trailer from the Game Awards left some open mouths and a lot of joy among fans, some of whom had already hoped and expected that Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon would continue the Witcher's legacy.

Attentive fans will not have missed the trailer that Ciri sounds significantly different than she did in The Witcher 3. The reason is very simple: CD Projekt RED has reassigned the speaking role. So Jo Wyatt will no longer be on board in The Witcher IV, but rather the young actress Ciara Berkeley. So far, Berkeley has primarily starred in British productions and has appeared in Normal People, The Deceived and Bad Sisters.

"Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and acting skills," said a statement, "and we believe she really brought Ciri to life in this trailer in a way that... is both true to the character and exciting for fans of the series."

Berkeley will certainly have to do some convincing, as fans have a bit of a hard time with such changes. Perhaps it's consolation that Doug Cockle will be heard again as Geralt, which also confirms that our taciturn white-haired man will somehow play some role in The Witcher IV. In any case, you can already hear it at the end of the trailer. Will he be Ciri's mentor and oversee the completion of her training (the trailer at least raised a few questions)? Or just an off-screen narrator?

But there are still enough questions to be answered anyway. CD Projekt RED recently announced that The Witcher IV is now fully in production, but that also means we'll have to wait a while for the finished game.
