The first-person shooter The Finals is starting its fifth season - and is now surprisingly also appearing on PS4.
Almost exactly a year ago, Embark Studios released their first-person shooter The Finals, which was and continues to be very convincing. Since the title relies heavily on destruction and physics-based models, it was only released for the more powerful current generation of consoles, i.e. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
However, the game avoided the last-gen consoles and it was generally assumed that it would simply not be possible to implement it on these consoles either - but that was far from the case. Completely surprisingly and somewhat incidentally, Embark Studios has now also announced a PS4 implementation of the title.
The official website now provides all sorts of information about the fifth season of the game, which again offers new content such as the fresh map Bernal in Mexico, items and more. At the very end of the blog entry there was a surprise: “Last but not least, we are also launching on the PlayStation 4.”
While the circle of players could be significantly expanded by the PS4 release, gamers on the newer consoles also benefit from the current update. There are new graphics modes to choose from on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. You can now also enjoy The Finals in 120Hz, although it is currently unclear how often or how reliably this frame rate target is actually achieved.
You can watch a trailer for Season 5 of The Finals below; The starting shot will be given on December 12, 2024.
