The Switch 2 has not been announced, but the potential game line-up for the console is still taking shape. A Soulslike blockbuster is also coming for the Switch successor.
The Switch successor, which has not yet been officially announced, is said to be significantly more powerful than the previous console - and that opens the door for numerous top titles that could not be published for the Nintendo console due to the poor performance of the previous platform. According to a renowned insider, one of them is said to be the mega-successful title Elden Ring from From Software.
As we continue to wait for the Switch 2 to be unveiled, the game line-up continues to take shape behind the scenes. According to the usually very reliable leaker Nash Weedle, Elden Ring will also be included. The port for the Switch 2 should therefore be a “Definitive Edition” of the game, which means that you will probably get the main game on the Nintendo console together with the large DLC package “Shadow of the Erdtree”.
However, it should also be mentioned in this context that From Software itself is apparently not working on the implementation for the Switch 2. Rather, the port is apparently to be developed by Virtuos.
The Singapore-based development studio has made a name for itself with such new editions and ports, as it is also responsible for projects such as BioShock: The Collection, Assassin's Creed: Liberation Remastered and Dark Souls: Remastered. Virtuos has already gained experience working with From Software as the former main studio for a game.
The leaker currently believes it is possible that Elden Ring could be released for the Switch 2 by the end of 2025, which also means it could be a launch title for the Switch 2. The hardware itself was generally expected for the first half of 2025, but recent rumors and reports now assume that it will only be released in the second half of 2025 - then directly with Elden Ring in the game portfolio? The long wait is over and the big add-on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is finally starting.
