After numerous leaks, how the trading feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket will work has now been officially presented.
The trading option is one of the most frequently requested features for the successful Pokémon TCG Pocket and is scheduled to finally be activated during January 2025. After previous leaks, the developers have now done their thing and announced official information about how it works.
The corresponding button for trading trading cards in the mobile title is already present in the game, but cannot yet be accessed. That should change with the release of the latest booster packs at the end of the month, because then trading will also be possible.
As previously leaked, trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket will actually come with some restrictions. Accordingly, cards can only be exchanged between friends, but not with other players. Furthermore, only certain cards from the previously available booster packs from the “Unbeatable Genes” and “Mysterious Island” series are supported; It remains to be seen whether the new boosters will also become part of the feature.
Incidentally, not all cards in these booster series can be exchanged; rather, the trading option is limited to rarity levels 1 to 4 diamonds or 1 star. An exchange is only possible with cards of the same rarity level, so you cannot exchange a 1-diamond card for a 1-star card from a friend, even if they would even agree. To execute a trade, additional items are required that have not yet been officially specified. The chances are good that the stardust that is already present in the game will be necessary for this.
