The current Sony console(PS5 for short) was officially released in Europe on November 19, 2020. The console is the successor to the(also called PS4) and can also play PS4 games thanks to backwards compatibility.

Buy or pre-order PlayStation 5: Where is it currently available?
Currently (as of January 22, 2021) it is difficult to buy or even pre-order a PlayStation 5 in Germany, Austria or Switzerland because the console is almost sold out in Europe. Major electronics retailers currently do not have the PS5 in stock. Amazon, Media Markt and Saturn do not even allow pre-orders. However, at least Saturn and Media Markt are currently shipping consoles again that customers pre-ordered a few months ago.

However, the consoles offered there are well above the recommended retail price of 399.99 or 499.99 euros. Even the Digital Edition sells for prices above 600 euros. You can even find the version with a drive at prices over 900 euros.

Is a PlayStation 5 worth it? Experiences with the new console
At the end of the day, of course, everyone has to know for themselves whether they currently need a PlayStation 5.. The unsurprising result: The new console does many things right and is technically a lot ahead of the PS4. Nevertheless, in addition to the PS5 delivery difficulties, the fact remains that the new Sony console is currently still quite expensive and there are comparatively few PS5 exclusive titles. You can currently play big games like Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS4.
However, a price reduction for the PS5 is also unlikely in the foreseeable future. The rush for the console is currently significantly greater than its availability. That's why it will probably be a long time before the PlayStation 5 is available at a cheaper price. Waiting for a bigger PS5 discount in the near future doesn't make sense at the moment.
