Path of Exile 2 has finally started early access and, despite a few problems, is enjoying huge popularity.
It's taken a long time, but now it's finally here: The action RPG sequel Path of Exile 2 has started early access on Steam. Previous registrations for the title already resulted in a warning about long queues and some technical problems that could arise. That's all what happened, but it doesn't affect the popularity of Diablo's competitor.
The fans came in droves this weekend despite predictable server problems and waiting times and overshadowed the already popular predecessor Path of Exile in terms of player numbers.
On the morning of December 7th, Path of Exile 2 reached a peak of 496,736 players playing simultaneously on Steam, doubling the value of its predecessor in this category. LoudSteamDBIn the meantime, the number has even been increased and the peak is now at almost 540,000 gamers at the same time.
This puts Path of Exile 2 in third place in the Steam player charts, behind the long-running favorites Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 and ahead of Marvel Rivals, which also got off to an excellent start.
For comparison: the first Path of Exile had its peak number of simultaneous gamers on Steam at 229,337. The fact that the sequel is off to such a good start is all the more remarkable given that the current early access costs 27.75 euros and the title will later also be launched in the free-to-play model.
The first reviews of Path of Exile 2 are also not lacking in good reviews. There are numerous worthwhile improvements compared to its predecessor. Nevertheless, there is still work for the makers from a technical point of view. This includes eliminating existing bugs and optimizing the server infrastructure.
If you watch well on Twitch, there will be drops for Path of Exile 2.
