News - Nintendo Switch 2: According to analyst, the price of the console doesn't matter

The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 was a bit underwhelming. After all, the video hardly revealed any tangible details and most of them were already known through leaks. The Japanese company didn't even reveal a price for the console, but according to an analyst it doesn't matter.

On January 16, 2025, Nintendo finally officially introduced the Switch 2 after months of rumors and leaks. But the presentation wasn't really well received because the company limited itself to the design of the console. At least we now know that the magnetic Joy-Cons are actually correct and fresh information about Mario Kart 9 can also be found. But that didn't stop the share price from crashing.

But no matter how disappointed the community may be now, the Nintendo Switch 2 will sell well. At least according to analyst Matt Piscatella. The head of Circana Games explains that early adopters of Nintendo hardware are afraid of almost no obstacle. Accordingly, the price of the console doesn’t matter.

Nintendo has not yet announced this, but according to current rumors, a purchase price of somewhere between 400 and 500 euros can be expected. According to Piscatella, the fans will be happy to pay this, as long as Nintendo doesn't charge an outrageous sum, the sales figures will be stable.

He expects 4.3 million units to be sold in the USA alone in the 2025 calendar year. Worldwide sales figures for the Nintendo Switch 2 are said to be somewhere between 14 and 17 million units.

Interesting views that Piscatella represents. However, it assumes that the Switch 2 will actually be released in 2025. This doesn't seem unlikely, but Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed anything yet. Concrete information about the console is currently promised for April 2, 2025, and a direct is scheduled to take place on that day.
