News-Nintendo Switch 2: FCC entry points to Amiibo compatibility

The upcoming Switch 2 could also support Amiibo figures. A FCC entry that has now appeared provides corresponding information.

The detailed presentation of the Switch 2 is slowly but surely getting closer and should bring clarity to the features and the performance of the new console in many ways. In advance, there are now indications that the previous Amiibo figures of the first switch could also be supported.

A new FCC entry shows that the Amiibo figures that existed since the 3DS and Wii-U generation could also be used in Switch 2. The plastic figures around Nintendo brands and games are connected to the consoles via NFC chips and often unlock special in-game content. For example, every fighter had received their own figure in the Super Smash Bros. series.

In the course of time, new Amiibo releases have subsided, but they could continue to be supported. According to the FCC entry, an NFC reader will be in the right Joy-Con controller of the Switch 2, which should ensure amiibo compatibility.

It can at least doubt whether this will be a larger comeback from new Amiibo figures. Rather, the downward compatibility of the Switch 2 should play a role, because many of the previous games have to offer to Amiibos coupled game content that would be further available in this way for the owners of the characters. Hopefully final clarity to the Amiibo plans will hopefully prevail in early April if the Switch 2 is presented in detail.
