In a blog entry, the developers now promise an "even thinner story" - even though the franchise with its post -apocalyptic setting is already quite dark. The background to this decision is the Russian invasion in Ukraine. With the even darker approaches in the new shooter part, the political issues rooted in the game and the anti-war position are also to be more obvious and significant.
The developers of 4a Games continued to leave what exactly is about in the next metro. However, it is emphasized that in the implementation, the experience of members of the development team around rocket attacks, warning sirens and terror have played a role and that they had significantly influenced the vision for the new series part.
