A new Mario Kart is on the way for the Switch 2 - and we already know 22 of the fun racer's characters!
Nintendo released the first trailer for the Switch 2 this week. In addition to the console, the first game could be seen, namely a new Mario Kart, which could presumably be called Mario Kart 9. The scope of the fun racer is apparently to be noticeably expanded, after all. Of course, this also requires a correspondingly extensive selection of characters.
The aforementioned trailer for Switch 2 also shows you a larger selection of playable characters. In this respect, at least 22 drivers are already known who will be part of the roster for the title, which has not yet been announced on a larger scale.
Not all of the characters in the clip can be identified with certainty, but Mario Kart fans have already analyzed the video in more detail and presumably identified the 22 following protagonists:

If races with 24 players are actually supported, it remains to be seen whether this squad will only be joined by 2 or even more drivers in the game.
The new Mario Kart doesn't have a release date yet because there is no release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 yet. The console and probably also the game will be presented in detail at a Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025, then there should be more clarity in this regard.
