The Sony keynote at CES 2025 brought further entertainment announcements: two major franchises are getting film adaptations.
Sony continues to invest in the entertainment sector away from video games and is far from having any in this regarddiscussed at CES 2025. Rather, two film adaptations from major video game brands were announced at the CES keynote.
Specifically, these are Horizon: Zero Dawn and Helldivers, both of which will come to the big screen and TV sets in the form of films.
The film adaptation of Horizon will therefore be produced by Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions. The collaboration bore fruit as early as 2022, because at that time Columbia Pictures played a key role in the film adaptation of Uncharted for Sony.
As far as Helldivers is concerned, it has at least been known that PlayStation Productions itself will have a hand in the game and will be handling the development. Further details about the specific planned content, the cast or the release periods of both films were initially not known.
Horizon: Zero Dawn was originally released for the PS4 in 2017 and immediately turned out to be a hit; Accordingly, the video game series has since been continued. The game actually should havewere supposed to be implemented, but this was ultimately discontinued. So now there will be at least one live-action movie.
Helldivers II was released in February 2024 and subsequently became the fastest-selling PlayStation game of all time. Within 12 weeks, over 12 million copies were sold.
In keeping with the release of the remaster of Horizon: Zero Dawn, here is the obligatory launch trailer for you.
