News - Frostpunk 1886: Remake of the first part with new technology announced

The first frost punk returns in a new guise! A remake called Frostpunk 1886 comes on a new technical basis.

The 11 bit studios have today confirmed that the first frostpunk will celebrate a comeback. The title receives a remake called Frostpunk 1886, which will then also be placed on a new technical basis. In the future, the dystopian management game will rely on the Unreal Engine 5 from Epic Games.

The developers also leave their own game engine, the Liquid Engine, who has been used in the title to date. The extensive work for the remake on the new technical basis will therefore take some time, so that the publication of Frostpunk 1886 is currently planned for 2027.

Of course, the new edition brings with it all sorts of graphic improvements, but this should also become far more than just a visual upgrade. It will be official mod support, new game mechanics, new laws, new playable content and more, so that a comeback should also be worthwhile for players of the original title.

The switch to the Unreal Engine should also benefit from the expandability of the game, so that new DLC content in the future is quite conceivable. In the meantime, the support for sequel Frostpunk 2 with DLCs and free updates should also be continued.
