It's quite an undertaking that Square Enix is undertaking with the remake of the cult classic Final Fantasy VII. An epic JRPG becomes a whopping three individual games that appear several years apart. There are already two pieces, now there are fresh details about the third remake part. He even reached an important milestone!
The bad information first: We still don't know when the third part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy will be released. The community speculates that it won't happen before 2027, but that's pure speculation.
But at least director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth had good news with them at G-Con 2024 in Korea: both the plot and the concept of the third part are finished. This means that development can finally gain full speed and, according to the two of them, work has already begun.
That's good news! Although the developers held back with further details, they did at least address an important locomotion mechanic: the airship. This should be very familiar to you if you played the original Final Fantasy VII.
According to Hamaguchi and Kitase, it will play a very central role in the third remake part. If you thought the world of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was big, the two say you'll be surprised again by the finale of the trilogy.
The airship will therefore fit seamlessly into the gaming experience. The team also wants to “not cheat” and give you as much freedom as possible when it comes to the airship. You can explore the world freely and the view from high in the air should enrich the feeling of the game even further.
