In times of global warming and climate change, the premise of exoborne has almost terrifyingly realistic. The development studio Sharkmob garnish the exciting approach of a dynamic weather system with exosuits and the extraction shooter-typical thrill. Overall, it is an exciting mix, but some elements go properly into the wind pants.
My backpack is filled with prey to burst and the ex -filtration point is within reach. However, the 200 meters of the crow flies do not prove to be a Sunday walk, on the contrary. I hear shots from the dense sandstorm. Another squad already seems to have requested a helicopter and is getting heated battles with NPCs. So I have no different way than to sneak up carefully and jump into the aircraft at the last second - these thoughts go through my head when a ball meets me on the side of the same and ends my excursion prematurely.
Escape as a goal
Ultimately, your directive isalso no different than with genre sizes like: Collect as much valuable stuff as well as weapons and armor as possible and demolish yourself from the fighting zone as unscathed as possible. However, NPC soldiers not only stand in your way, other players also run for loot and life.
At the defense you sit down with the usual suspects of every well -stocked weapon chamber. However, all rifles, submachine guns and shotguns suffer from the lax hit feedback. Without a hit marker, you sometimes don't even notice whether an opponent really caught a ball or you have swallowed a few blue beans yourself.
Rather a personal problem is also the goal via Kimme and grain: it just feels awkward for me when a third-person shooter suddenly switches to the first person if I want to target the enemies. For the overview, this turns out to be better, but The Division showed, for example, how a good shoulder view works.
Fully through the wind
The developers of Sharkmob on their weather system and this for a good reason: It represents the largest unique selling point of the otherwise rather exchangeable exoborne. The story after there was massive environmental disasters on Earth, which is a malignant company for its immoral purposes exploited, and the world is now destroyed. Even if the actual game takes place a few years after the great cataclysm, weather anomalies still appear. You either use this to your advantage or experience some unsightly surprises.
So rain does not mean immediate danger, but it limits the view and hearing, which reveals opponents opportunities for surprise attacks - but of course also you. The senses and sandstorms also cloud the senses. The most exciting natural phenomena during my playing session were the tornados. Apart from the noise, they are also suitable for locomotion.
Because every exosuit comes with a standard paraglider. If you jump into the air in the immediate vicinity of wind pants and activate it, hurl it up several meters into the air and you quickly cover many meters. This is equally suitable for surprise attacks as well as fast sprints towards the expension point. In combination with the gripping hook, this results in the most fun moments of exoborne.
The pulse quickly rises when you see enemy soldiers in the middle of a storm and still consider it: Did you see me? Do I attack? Do I keep myself covered? Is the loot worth it? In such moments, the strengths of extraction shooters come into play, but elsewhere the experience flattens massively.
Sesame, open yourself
The best prey awaits you in special underground bunkers, where there are particularly strong weapons or occasionally a fresh exosuit and lots of cash. However, their goals are of course not open continuously. First of all, it is important to obtain the necessary access authorization. To do this, search for special data points and keep a while near it. If you have rapied enough of it, your security approval rises.
This is comparatively desolate and, accordingly, motivates little to collect the necessary points. Rather, many players tend to camp in front of the bunkers and simply abandon you after work. Somehow that is part of the genre, but sometimes frustrates very much. Here Sharkmob has to watch the actual exploration of more rewarded.
Conclusion
An extraction shooter with an interesting trick that does not hide the weaknesses
So far, no game did not want to succeed in getting Escape from Tarkov dangerous. The title on the throne of the extraction shooters, despite numerous competitors of various manufacturers, is largely unrivaled. But nobody managed to replicate the thrill and well thought -out game structure of the original. Exoborne offers an interesting approach due to the weather mechanics, but flies too much in many other places.
The weapon handling lacks force, and the card randomly seems randomly thrown together to make the feeling of moving me through an environment tied by environmental disasters. After all, the random storms ensure a tension component, but this only compensates for the other misconduct of the game to a limited extent. Exoborne creates a certain thrill, but relies too much on the same mechanics and the loot must be much better and more exciting for a serious chance of survival. It remains to be seen what changes Sharkmob based on the play test.
