EA Sports FC 25 is receiving its biggest gameplay update yet today. The AI behavior in attack and defense, tackles, passes and more are adjusted.
A well-known saying goes that good things take time. That also appliesto. For months, the community has been complaining about imprecise passes, balls bouncing back to the opponent after successful tackles, a CPU defense that is too strong and, in return, a lame offense without clever positional play. And don't forget defenders with 70 speeds who catch up with Vini Jr. and Mbappé in a running duel. Now all these and other construction sites are finally to be closed with a major update.
Today, EA is releasing the most comprehensive update to date for FC 25 under the title "Gameplay Refresh". All game mechanics will be revised or improved, including passes, shots, defense and goalkeeping, ball movement and general CPU behavior. The adjustments are made based on the community feedback collected so far.
These are the most important changes in the “Gameplay Refresh”:
Offensive
- Teammates are more careful not to run offside
- improved runs and support from teammates
- Shock Storm and Interior Storm professionals are more effective in their roles
- improved spatial distribution on offense
Defensive
- After tackles (especially with an anticipation playstyle), the ball bounces less often to the opponent
- Better ball control after fair tackles
- Reduced intensity of coverage and tackling by the CPU
- Players with slow speeds can no longer catch up with significantly faster people
- Goalkeepers defend shots at the near post more effectively
Flat passesare played faster and more precisely overall, especially over short distances. Even through passes now have a higher probability of reaching the desired player. The effectiveness of directly played, high through passes, on the other hand, is significantly reduced.
Normal and cut shots on goalin the penalty area have a higher probability of going into the net. Players without the appropriate playstyle will now be able to take short shots better, provided their attributes are high enough in the relevant finishing categories.
