The anime adaptation Cyberpunk: Edgerunners hit 2022 like a gorilla fist. However, there has been complete radio silence since one season and the fans are correspondingly jittery. Now there is actually new food with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: Madness, but in a different dosage form.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: Madness is not an animated moving image production; instead, CD Projekt Red is publishing the prequel as a manga. According to current plans, the first volume is scheduled to appear in 2025, but the studio has a surprise in store: The first chapter is now available!
However, you can currently only read the opening of Madness in selected languages - but don't worry, German is included. The first chapter of the manga is also available in Polish, Japanese, French and Spanish. Interestingly, English is currently missing; this version is not scheduled to be published by Dark Horse Comics until 2025.
The story was written by Bartosz Sztybor, Comic Book & Animation Narrative Director at CD Projekt Red. He is already heavily involved in the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Madness is drawn by Asano, who might be known for his work on BNA: Brand New Animal, for example.
But what is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: Madness actually about? As already mentioned, this is a prequel. It covers the story of Rebecca and Pilar before they joined the Maine crew.
So good news for all fans of the cyberpunk universe. Just recently, CD Projekt Red gave us tons of new features for the video game Cyberpunk 2077 with the update to version 2.2. There is also another Netflix animated series in the works, but there isn't even a release date for it yet.
CD Projekt RED focuses on the comprehensive Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 via a trailer.
