It has been clear for some time that the classic map Verdansk will make a comeback in Call of Duty: Warzone - and now there are increasing signs of a date.
It was reported for months last year in 2024 that the classic map Verdansk would make a comeback in the long-running battle royale and spin-off Call of Duty: Warzone. Originally it was said that this was planned for 2024, but nothing came of that; Instead, the publication was delayed without any concrete information about the release date.
Now something is apparently happening on this front, because the reliable Call of Duty leaker TheGhostofHop has now spoken out with fresh information about this. This leaker had already leaked a lot of information about the renowned and successful shooter series online in the past. Will he be right this time too?
If so, then Verdansk will return in Season 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and also Call of Duty: Warzone. The insider answered this in response to a corresponding query on the social media service So you'll obviously have to be patient for a few more months.
The first reports of a return of the original map have been available since December 2023 via Insider Gaming. At that time, Epic Games celebrated immense success with the comeback of the original island in Fortnite OG and was able to set new player number records. Activision was inspired by this time and brought a Verdansk comeback into the game. Over the course of 2024, there were initially increasing signs that the starting signal would be given in December 2024, later followed by an (unofficial) postponement to spring 2025.
After a number of leaks, Activision officially confirmed the plans for the Verdansk comeback at CODNEXT in August 2024 - but for 2025. In the meantime, according to TheGhostofHope, the schedule has matured further.
Verdansk was originally released in 2020 and took Call of Duty: Warzone and the franchise as a whole to new heights. It was the first free-to-play game in Call of Duty history and enjoyed immense success.
The current cross-over with Squid Game also brings with it a corresponding event pass in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
