News - Call of Duty: Black Ops 6: Splitscreen option with further restrictions

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will again have a split-screen option, but this comes with another restriction compared to previous parts.

This year's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will once again be able to be played together on the couch via split screen. As we have already reported, this is true, because split screen is no longer supported on the last-gen consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Even where the feature is still on board, there is another limitation.

Compared to older parts of the shooter series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will no longer support split screen for four players. Instead, the maximum number of players via split screen is now limited to two gamers; A screen will therefore be halved at most and will no longer be able to be divided into four parts.

This will be particularly annoying for fans of the Zombies mode, which is also known to be making a comeback in Black Ops 6. There are probably quite a few players who would have liked to completely put together a squad of four people on the couch with friends so that they could then get started together and fight the undead - a circumstance that will no longer be possible.

But this probably won't come as a complete surprise, even for veterans of the series. Although Call of Duty had a long split screen for four gamers, Black Ops 3 was the last game in the Black Ops sub-series with this option. Since the cut to a 2-player splitscreen, there doesn't really seem to be an option for a comeback of the 4-player splitscreen.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on October 25, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
